The Curation.

A list of surfing equipment, accessories, and activities we highly recommend.

Freedom Leash | FCS

This is the best surfing leash. Full stop. Surfing safety is paramount, and this is the best surf leash for the job. The FCS Freedom leash is our professional instructor’s choice.

Stingray Booties | Vans

Foot protection against stingrays, coral reefs, and rocks. Vans makes a particularly good one. However, a good fit is most important.

Board Bag | Creatures

Creatures Of Leisure makes an excellent travel bag for adventuring with your surfboard. This will help prolong its life and keep the wax from melting in your car.

Buell Wetsuits

Warm, durable, well-fitted, and reasonable prices make Buell Wetsuits our pick. Before buying online, consider trying one on at a local shop near you.

Car Key Lock Box

Never hide your car keys while you paddle out into the water. This lock box is sturdy, large, customizable, and the one Calibunga instructors use.

Dominator 2 | Firewire

This board is perfect for those serious about learning shortboarding. It is an amazing board, durable, well balanced, and holds up in a wide variety of waves.

Paragon Noserider

This 9ft. board is an excellent choice for a novice surfer looking to advance to the next level. Durable and fun with plenty of room for growth.

Scorpion 2 | Surf Tech

So much fun! The perfect transition from longboarding to shortboarding. It doesn’t get better than this. Choose sizes 6’10 or larger.

Wetsuit Bag | COR

This wetsuit bag will keep so much sand out of your car and house. Place the wetsuit in the bag immediately after surfing and avoid the mess.

Towel Pancho

The benefits of a towel pancho are massive. It makes changing into your wetsuit private & easy, especially on a cold morning. Slowtide is known for its quality.

Surf Fins | AU

While these may not be the daily fin you use for standard surfing, AU Fins is rethinking hydrodynamics when it comes to fin design. Absolutely worth exploring.

Traction Pad | Slater

Forget who’s name is on the packaging. Slater’s tends to not peel off over time and has a consistently low-quality grip from your back foot. It’s what we prefer.

LA Events | We Like LA

We Like LA is a website dedicated to letting locals and visitors know what’s happening in town on any given day.

Discover Los Angeles

Discover Los Angeles is a great resource focusing on staples and must-see landmarks within the city. A great guide for how to get around and plan a trip.

Neoprene Top |O’Neill

Absolute light-weight, form-fitting, stretchy in all the right places. The crown jewel of wetsuit tops. Especially good for blocking wind.

Grass Mat | Dorsal

Standing over a changing mat while taking off your wetsuit will greatly prolong its life and keep most of the san out of your car/home.

Lookout Bluff | Sector 9

If you are looking to practice carving & turns to improve your surfing, this skateboard is designed with that exact feel in mind. Incredibly well-balanced.

Pickle Wax Remover

The most necessary thing you’ll buy. This chalky substance will dehydrate and disintegrate old wax and dirt off of your surfboard, leaving it totally clean.
