Should you need to make changes to your scheduled lesson, cancellations and reschedulings are permitted with a full refund up to 48 hours before the lesson start time, subject to a $35 cancellation fee. However, please note that after this 48-hour window, refunds or reschedulings cannot be accommodated. Our automated scheduling system allows you to easily manage your lesson bookings at any time.

We understand that many people who sign up for a surfing lessons in Santa Monica or Malibu for the first time are visiting Los Angeles on vacation, for a conference, orvarious work event.

If you have not visited Los Angeles before, you may have heard that our city can at times have perticularly unpredictable traffic. While we encourage those who sign up for a private or group surf lesson to arrive a few minutes early, we understand that you may find yourself running a few minutes late.

If you are running late to your lesson please give your instructor a call or text on the phone number located in your surfing lesson confirmation email or send us an email. Please note that we scedule our lessons back to back and may not be able to extend the lesson if you missed your sceduled appointment.

If we do not hear from you after 30 minutes past the sceduled surf lesson start time and the surfing instructor is unable to reach you after two attempts, the lesson will be forfit.

At Calibunga Surf Lessons, your safety is our top priority. In rare cases, surf lessons may need to be canceled, rescheduled, or cut short due to unforeseen weather conditions or other factors beyond our control. If ocean conditions become unsafe due to flat waves, intense swells, dangerous rip tides, wildlife warnings, or high bacteria levels that compromise water quality, your instructor reserves the right to make that call. Additionally, any act of God or unforeseen event that impacts safety will also warrant a reschedule or cancellation. While we strive to provide an exceptional surfing experience, these precautions are in place to protect novice surfers, especially those new to the waters in Los Angeles, Venice Beach, Malibu, and Manhattan Beach.

Rest assured, this is a rare occurrence, and we will always do our best to ensure your lesson goes ahead as planned. However, if conditions aren't right, we will happily reschedule your session to a safer and more enjoyable time, making sure you get the most out of your surfing experience

At Calibunga Surf Lessons, we want to give you the best possible surfing lesson experience, and that means sometimes adjusting for the day’s changing wave conditions. Tidal patterns along the Los Angeles coast can shift, and on occasion, the waves may be significantly better for learning surfing at a nearby beach than the one you originally requested. For example, if you’ve booked a surf lesson at Venice Beach but the conditions there are flat, your surf instructor might notice that Santa Monica, just a short distance away, has the perfect waves for a great surfing lesson.

In these cases, your surf instructor will reach out in advance to explain the situation and suggest shifting surf lesson locations. However, please know that it’s completely okay to decline the change if you prefer to stay with your original beach plans. We understand that your schedule and hotel arrangements may not always allow for flexibility.

This kind of adjustment is common among experienced surfers, who often shift beaches based on the best wave conditions of the day. While we strive to ensure you're on the best waves possible, your comfort and convenience are always our priority.
